Wyatt Burp - Spacewalking

Certainly one of the more interesting albums that has found its way into my email inbox... this 12 track atmospheric yet shuffling beat tape comes to us via Wyatt Shell, aka Wyatt Burp, from just outside DC. Give this album a few moments with your headphones and your hearing holes and you will be glad that you did.

Preview below, the album is pay-what-you-prefer, so it's 100% free if you want it to be:

Various Assets - Not For Sale: A Selection Of Tunes Recorded At The Red Bull Music Academy Madrid 2011

This is far too special not to post here: a massive, free, 60+ artist, experimental, improvisational album from the gurus over at Red Bull Music Academy.

The chief idea seems to have been a talented musician free-for-all over four weeks in Madrid in Autumn of last year. The result? Beats, vibes, vocals, rhythms, musique concrete, jam sessions... everything about music you probably love, and it's not only here and free, it will take you all day to wrap your ears around. So get started:

The player doesn't display track lists very well in that format, so I'll put the full artist-track list up after the jump so you don't have to go through each one manually (although I recommend that you do).

Kaytradamus - Kaytra Nada

Montreal, Canada producer Kaytradamus may only be 19, but he has some serious chops garnered over a multitude of releases over the past three years. Seriously, Kay is a busy man, if you're feeling this then you're in luck, because he has dozens of tunes spread out across his bandcamp and soundcloud pages.

This guy gets it, I can already tell that a couple of these tunes will be in rotation in my headphones for the rest of the week. Smooth yet wonky/funky Canadian instrumentals at bargain prices... perfect for ironing out those Monday grievances.

Preview below:

Colossius and Digi G'Alessio - Danse Avec Les Loops

Seeing as I featured Karaoke Tundra yesterday, it seems almost criminal if I didn't mention Digi G'Alessio's other recent side-work, a nice little collab EP with fellow Italian producer Colossius entitled Danse Avec Les Loops, out now under the Bedroom Research label.

As you all know, I love skweee, so this flies right up my alley. Sharp, meaty, and with plenty of audible calories for your brain to chew on. Viva L'Italia!

Karaoke Tundra - Obor Haraburda

Pretty much all you need to know about this one is that it's from the Mad Hop label, it's produced by Slovakian Karaoke Tundra and that it includes remixes from two of my favorite Italians, Grillo and Digi G'Alessio.

Also, they're making it name-your-price so if you really enjoy it, throw them a tip and support indie labels.

Mystery Cave - Red Tide

Toeing the line of blurry ambience and hip hop: San Diego producer Mystery Cave and his latest release Red Tide.

This may be a bit of bad news for some, but as far as I can tell it's only available via limited cassette... however, they look as though they're still for sale on MC's bandcamp page as of this posting.

Good news: for now, the tracks are at least up in their entirety to preview -

Circuitree Records: V/A - Universus Vol. IV

Rising Miami indie label Circuitree Records has just released the fourth installment of their Universus series, which brings together artists who are more focused on the intricacies of melodies and sounds, resulting in a slow digesting collection of tracks designed for focused listening.

Nine tracks forming your very own pick-your-flavor audio bouquet, as variety is certainly not spared if you listen all the way through. Preview below, and snag this release at whatever price point your wallet falls under.

For all the fans of Night Tracks, today is the official release of Venture's EP Together We Fall.

If you're familiar with Night Tracks, you already know what to expect. If not, the label name should be a huge hint. Deep, bass driven night vibe tunes, perfect for those moments after the sun has bent the 180th degree.

ILLXLOVE - "Swoop"

Check out the single "Swoop" from New York producer ILLXLOVE from his most recent album Amor Ad X, which manages to take the warmth and nostalgia of analog synths, the airiness of lo-fi drums, and the skill of chopping and turn them into some sort of Houston style M83/Ratatat/Boards of Canada mash-up. Needless to say, I had to share.

Preview below, the entire album is free via bandcamp if you're feeling it.

Raj Mahal - jaR

If you're going to listen to one beat tape today, make it this one by Raj Mahal of Detroit --> Chicago.

jaR is meant to be listened to in its entirety from start to finish, as each track seamlessly and soulfully merges in and out of another in a relaxed yet forward thinking manner. Raj himself describes the release as "an audio autobiography", so sit back and allow him to make his introduction:

Dailon - As The Veil Dissolves...

This album from San Francisco resident Dailon has been all over the internet for a couple of weeks, but it's not until today that the album is "officially" released on bandcamp, so what better time than now to put it up here? 22 free tracks of shuffling, fuzzy, downtempo beats, perfect for just about any occasion that calls for an ethereal-yet-funky atmosphere.

Preview below, visit the bandcamp landing page or Dailon's soundcloud to download for free.

Cestladore - Short Walks At Night EP

Eugene, Oregon beat producer Cestladore has just released his debut EP on Stylss Records, a 28 track album of damp, stammering, lo-fi grooves interspersed with field recordings and found sounds.

"But, wait!" you exclaim. "How on great wobbling Earth is this an EP when it contains 28 tracks? Impossible!". Well, you're right, that would be a stretch, except that this is the second release of Stylss Records, who if you're unfamiliar, like to take their remix duties to the extreme. While the official release is only five tracks in length, you get twenty three bonus tracks on top of that, just for being your awesome self.

It's name-your-price, so you might as well jump head-first into Stylss' second release-remix-fest:

Gloam - Bronze

Just in time for a laid-back Sunday morning, Vancouver producer Gloam's most recent album Bronze is light and easy on the ears, a sophisticated way to relax.

11 tracks, all free of charge. Gloam is a fellow blogger, so if you like his productions and his taste in music, you should visit him over at Flow Worthy.

Sub Radar Radio 013

Whoosh! Today's episode is right on time for a change! Just kinda winged it with this one, and I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

I decided to get this one rolling from the get go, so be warned, your introduction to Opal Block will be abrupt. Also, I managed to snag an exclusive tune from Mattron, one of the rare moments he lets someone flow over his beats.

Hit play, if you like it, share it with your friends, your grandmother, and your friends grandmother.

Amor, est. - City Birds

There are so many things about Denver musician Amor, est.'s City Birds album that I really enjoy: the classical influences, the abrupt style changes, the themed tracks, the puns and punctuation...

The first couple of tracks on this release really had me scratching my head, but once "Lesser Flamingo" came on, I was sure that this producer was up to something special. After a full listen through, you can appreciate it as a whole: the jazz, the bass, the experimental moments... yes, even the puns... especially the puns.

Anyway, have a listen through, and be sure to not judge this by any one track, it's multifaceted enough to be explored as a whole. Oh and did I mention that the entire album, plus almost a whole extra album of remixes is available for free? Yep.

Jo Twist - Separated From The Sun

The latest release from Urban Waves comes in the form of Russian producer Jo Twist's album Separated From the Sun, a downtempo, bass driven EP with a couple "bonus" tracks at the end (including a tune from St. Petersburg producer Lingvisto).

Atmosphere, bass, beats... pretty much sums it up. This was given as a Valentine's Day gift from Urban Waves, so preview below, and head to the bandcamp landing page to download this EP free of charge.

Uncomfortable Beats: V/A - Uncomfortable Beats #2

I know what you're thinking, I know I have a tendency to post some releases that are... a tad hard to digest. Well, despite the ominous title of this compilation, the beats within are surprisingly straightforward and groovy.

Uncomfortable Beats is a collective of musicians based in and around Melbourne, southeastern Australia. I had only fleeting knowledge of these producers until now, but the wide range of sounds within is definitely a reminder to keep an ear down under.

The 10 track release is $5AUD, so about half the price per track that usual online stores charge. So support the Aussie scene and snag the album, or just preview it below and get your fill of interesting and diverse productions for your afternoon/evening/morning (depending on when you read this). It's formatted weird on bandcamp so I'll put the tracklist after the jump.

Snubluck - The Flying Machine

A deliciously wonky treat appeared in my inbox this morning, in the form of Denver producer Snubluck's The Flying Machine, a 6 track, name your price album of crisp, 8-bit influenced jams. Fans of Dibiase and Digi G should clock this release immediately.

If this grooves with you, check out the rest of his releases on his bandcamp page, as he's been steadily pushing out new albums since the beginning of last year.

Binary Bits - 2suit

Fresh from the North East beat collective Altered Ego comes 2suit, the debut release from the newest member, Philly based producer Binary Bits.

Purple-ish synths, lady vocal samples, and head nodding funk grooves all add up to a fairly sultry package, which is appropriate considering it was released yesterday on Valentine's day. No, no comments from my neighbors concerning baby-making music this time.

Preview below, and click through to the bandcamp landing page to download this free of charge.

Bdot - Vday.

I'm usually not one to buy into Valentines Day hype. I mean, it should be fairly obvious by now that my amazing taste in music is only dwarfed by my romantic prowess 365 days of the year. [citation needed]

Anyway, instead of falling for corporate candy day, grab your designated snuggling life companion and sink into this amazing free Valentines compilation show by Bdot, via Resonate.

Feelin' Music: V/A - Do The Dilla 2012

Swiss music label Feelin' Music has brought together a horde of talented producers together in order to pay tribute to legendary beat producer J Dilla (James Yancey) by releasing Do The Dilla 2012 - A Tribute To The Drum Master, a free 18 track sample-tastic beat tape in the same vein as the late Yancey's legacy.

Mr. Dibiase, Boombaptist, Ta-Ku and many more all join forces to keep Jay Dee's spirit alive and well, and the whole collection can be yours, free of charge, by clicking through to the bandcamp landing page.

James Blake - Live Album

Piano playing, Mercury-prize recognized wunderproducer James Blake has just released an unofficial album of his live performances, completely free of charge via his tumblr account.

If you're unfamiliar with Blake, this is actually a really good introduction, as it's always more impressive (to me, anyway) when an artist can reproduce their songs with fidelity in a live setting. Needless to say, he brings a really interesting take to his own productions when he recreates them, which is no surprise considering his DIY past.

Click here for the direct d/l link, or you can view the landing page on his tumblr if you prefer. Tracklist and example of his live chops after the jump.

Color Plus - Fuzz

You guys remember Color Plus from that collab with Eric Zolan a couple of months ago, right? If not you should probably go have a quick listen.

Anyway, the Connecticut beat-chef is back and has dished up a collection of tasty treats for us in the form of Fuzz. All nine of them are available for free, or for a tip if you prefer. It's name-your-price, is what I'm hinting at. Check out that title track "Fuzz" and "SEEUSOON"... oh my days. Actually, check out all the tracks because they're all pretty fantastic. Which is why I'm posting them here. Yep.

Sub Radar Radio 012

It's Friday once again! Actually, it'll probably be Friday night or Saturday morning when you get to listen to this, as I was slightly delayed in being able to record this weeks show due to travel and blah blah blah excuses.

Anyway, better late than neighbors! Or something like that.

This week's show starts off all future-beat-dreamy, then takes a serious dark turn towards the middle, before emerging on the other side in a bright and funky dance party. It's a metaphor for life, really.

Enjoy! I kept the tradition of having a muddled and confusing intro voice... at this rate it will be indistinguishable in a couple of episodes.

Dainumo - Commercial Interruption [Video Single]

It's almost midnight as I post this, but it's never too late/early for a chopped up, super nostalgia-infused, Pogo-esque beat video. This one comes to us fresh from St. Louis producer Dainumo, who used the uncontainable rad-ness of 90's era commercials to form this 2:39 masterpiece.

In the description he mentions that he's considering making an entire album in this vein, so if you like what you hear, be sure to click through to the youtube page and leave him a comment of support.

Kingdom - Darkness II Mixtape

Fade to Mind head honcho and Night Slugger Kingdom has thrown together a free mixtape in tandem with the release of Darkness II, the sequel to the original hyperbolic gun-toting gore-fest video game of the same name. (For gameplay/walkthrough footage, Hannah of the Yogscast gets my vote).

The mixtape is similarly murky and brooding, featuring a couple of his own tracks alongside Rizzla, Fatima Al Qadri, Terror Danjah and a Total Freedom remix of a Nguzunguzu tune. Hit the jump for full tracklist + download link.

Young Magic - Melt

Brooklyn's Young Magic is a trio/collective of talented people who come together to craft sounds, expressions, words, art, and just about anything else that can make you step back and ponder for a moment. "Dreamy" is a word that gets tossed around quite a bit these days (I'm guilty as charged), but it's really quite something when the æther pounces on you and refuses to let go.

Enter, stage left: Young Magic's 11-track debut LP, Melt. It's a self-described "sonic collage" of sounds gathered from far corners of the globe, from Europe to South America and beyond. I don't have the advance for this, but from the snippets I've caught floating around the interwebs thus far, it's shaping up to be something special. Fans of M83, Brightblack Morning Light,  Animal Collective, and 60's psych-soul, take note.

Hit the jump for the video singles.

Shlohmo - "Wen Uuu (Teebs Remix)"

Fresh on the heels of the Salva remix of Shlohmo's Vacation lead single "Wen Uuu", comes another interpretation of the tune by none other than ankle-breakin' LA producer Teebs.

Hit play and enjoy, and press the magic download button in the player to secure it fast and strong to your hard drive for the rest of time.

Anemonen Entertainment - Beat Tape Vol. 1

Let's spin the globe over to Switzerland for a moment and cast our ears and eyes on Anemonen Entertainment, a duo of producers (Big O & M, as they like to be called) who have released their first bandcamp album entitled, simply enough, Beat Tape Vol. 1.

Syrupy at one moment, and airy in the next, this release is has plenty of surprises. I wasn't entirely sure what to make of it at first, but this album is unapologetically wonky so I can't help but enjoy it.

100% free, so snap it up if alt-Swiss-hop tickles your fancy.

Montgomery Clunk - Homeless&Out-Takes

Romanian producer Montgomery Clunk has recently uploaded a whole host of short semi-songs , mash ups and snippets to his soundcloud which he has dubbed Homeless&Out-Takes.

Spanning wonky, glitchy, and downtempo on top of sampling a capellas from everyone from oldschool Diddy to Jay-Z, it's interesting to see how many projects talented producers can have going at once.

They're all up for grabs via his soundcloud page, so grab one or all of the ones you want before they hit the d/l limit.

Languid - Languid Love Japan

New Haven label Grappa Frisbee continues its fervorous work ethic with the release of Languid's latest album, Languid <3 Japan. This release is a tribute to all things Japanese hip-hop, and draws strong influence from atmospheric beat producers such as the late Nujabes.

Quite the global connection with this album: a Connecticut label releasing a Zimbabwean (who resides in the UK)'s tribute album to Japan. Oh yes, you already know it's going to be good.

Press play to fire it up, click through to name-your-price and download the album:

Ta-Ku & Kit Pop - Bounce EP

Australian label Paper Chain has just uploaded a quick EP from Perthians ("Perthy-ites"? Perth Residers?) Ta-Ku and Kit Pop featuring a single plus several supporting re-mashers: The Blessings, Dizz1, Thinnen, and DNte with their take on the track "Bounce".

Preview below, click through to add some verticals to your hard drive.

The release is currently going for $4AUD, so about ~$4.29 at the time of this post.

Gloam - Blurry

Vancouver based beatsmith and fellow blogger Gloam has recently released yet another beat tape entitled Blurry, the latest in a huge wave of albums that he seems to be churning out at a ridiculous rate: this makes ten in the past five months alone.

And I don't mean short, one-off albums either, the majority of them have upwards of twenty tracks apiece on them, sometimes even stretching to forty tracks on a single album. Oh and they're all free because of course they are... wait, what? Ridiculousness.

^MA! - Moving Morning

Whoa, well...

There's spaced-out jams, and then there's this... truly something best appreciated through headphones in a fairly altered state of consciousness. Given the presupposed state, this album will make you feel as if your headphones are broken... and it is glorious.

Abstract hip-hop in its truest form, again... this is an collection you might want to filter through your favorite substance of choice. That is, unless you're ready to crack open that skull of yours and let in a little sober-jazzy-yet-dystopian-wonky light.

Name your price, so have at it.

LyteSho! - Two/Six EP

Ringing in February with style: a fresh EP from Wilkes-Barre-ian Senzu member LyteSho!.

Following up Concept of Space and his subsequent remix album, Mr. Amara bestows unto us yet another collection of cosmic tunes. All the headiness of ambience, tethered firmly to the ground with rolling drum lines. Standard LyteSho!, the best of both worlds.

Preview it below, and head to the bandcamp landing page to grab it at no cost.

Sub Radar Radio 011

It's Friday! And you all know what that means... or maybe you just read the topic title, but regardless...

Sub Radar Radio 011 is up, and ready to crawl into those anxious ear canals... and hoo boy is this a good'un. I hand picked some of my favorite tracks from recent features, as well as some timeless blasts from the past.

Saddle up, press play, enjoy:

plukk.inn - Bad Habits

We should all be already well versed in the mainland European beat scene thanks to Finest Ego and B-Ju, but in case you need some more beat-tastic Rhineland reminders, here comes plukk.inn from Koblenz/Cologne, Germany with his beat tape Bad Habits.

Classic style with a contemporary twist, soulful samples and head-nodding grooves. Slightly disjointed and raw, so let it simmer in your hearing holes for a little while to let the jazz-mangle fully infuse. Yes, you read that sentence correctly.

Best part? You already know: it's one million percent free, so preview it below head on over to the bandcamp landing page to download it for no charge whatsoever.

The-Drum - Heavy Liquid EP

The Heavy Liquid EP smoothness from Chicago duo The-Drum is out now in digital format after a super limited (read: 300) press of white vinyl via Audraglint Recordings. They describe the record as "sexed-up sci-fi R&B", and I suppose I would have to agree with that sentiment, although knowing me I probably would have thrown in the word "purple" somewhere.

In fact, "sexed-up" must be accurate, as my neighbor asked me if I was listening to "baby making music again" while I was re-reviewing it, and she definitely has a keen ear for that sort of thing.

Anyway, assess it for yourself by previewing it via iTunes here or the single below the jump break, and pounce on that limited vinyl if that's your jam because if they're not gone by now they certainly will be soon. $12 delivered (US) / $20 global.

Project: Mooncircle - 10th Anniversary Compilaton

It's always exciting to see new material come out of Project: Mooncircle, and today they've hit us with news of the upcoming crème de la crème of releases: a 46 track compilation of various artists they have interacted with in their decade long history.

Everyone from Om Unit, fLako, Rain Dog, Sun Glitters, Ichiro_ and Sorrow make an appearance among many, many others.

Right now they've only put up a 4-track teaser of the album to come (due March 16th), but the bandcamp page is updated with the ability to pre-order the collection in digital format, or even better: a mega 4xLP box set + t-shirt collectors edition shipped straight to your door from internetland right after the release.

Tracklist after the jump:

Evian Christ - Kings And Them

The formerly anonymous youtube-tune sensation Evian Christ has just been signed as the newest protégé of the always spectacular Brooklyn label Tri Angle Records (who else?). In celebration, Tri Angle has released the collection of drips and drops from his channel in the form of the Kings and Them mixtape, which has just been made available for free via mediafire.

Par for the course for Tri Angle, which is to say, absolutely ambient-bass-tastic, with a touch of juke vocal overlay. Preview and download link courtesy of T-AR after the jump:
