Vanilla - Soft Focus

Album art by Tonio Alucema
I'm not sure which incites more nostalgia - the classic camera on the cover harkening back to the days where you had to sit in a red room full of fumes to make your pictures appear, or the throwback samples intricately looped through this name-your-price audio experience.

UK producer Vanilla does a wonderful job of keeping the soul and story of each inspiration intact throughout the beat. In these MPC days it can be quite easy to drain the life out of any record you can filter through recording software, so it's always a pleasant surprise when you can bob your head to tunes that feel like a completed puzzle made up from the days when petrol didn't cost $5 a gallon.

Name your price on bandcamp or hit up the mediafire link that he's provided just for you, 27 tracks straight to your HDD, simply for being the beautiful person with internet connection that you are.

  2. Great retro cover, and The End is very 70's.

  6. Your in a bit of a jazzy mood eh? This would have been great on disk or vinyl, the album was designed to be gapless and the tiny buffering gaps messed with that.

  7. This right here... is real talent. Pay attention to the names of each song and the order, because its telling a story in itself. LOVE THIS.
