XXYYXX - Mystify
Up-and-coming Floridian producer XXYYXX has just released his latest (and almost monthly, at this point) album, Mystify. It's really quite something, for a number of reasons: the sense of rhythm, the keen ear for sampling, the tumbling dreamscapes of ambient-flow... and all of this at the age of sixteen.
Mystify is by far my favorite XXYYXX album to date, and he's even doing the price point right: not free, but one simple dollar for the whole shebang. That's less than 20c per tune... so even if it only took him an hour to produce each song (it more than likely didn't), he's asking that you pay him 2.2% of Florida's minimum wage for something that you receive audio benefit from... now if that's not fair, I don't know what is.

That picture looks a bit dirty. I'm not digging the music though.
ReplyDeleteWow the sounds in these songs are that of which I haven't heard before! Very origanal in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he's asking for money, artists do need to eat! I'm actually surprized how cheap artist sell there stuff this day and age! I'm use to shelling out big bucks for CDs! (though from what I've heard most musicians only made fifty cents per CD sold!)
Damn it, this must be a electronica thing, but 1 and 2 both did the volume surging thing. listen carefully, it's like somone is twisting the volume knob up and down repeatedly. That drives me nuts!
ReplyDeleteThe album art is hilarious. lol. The music is pretty good.
ReplyDeletePicture looks alluring, not my type of music tho.
ReplyDeleteNice tunes!
ReplyDeleteThe cover of the album is very suggestive and the music is so intense, this is art!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Album art but I personally don't really like the music.

But I agree with you, this is so epic!

ReplyDeleteBill Gate is my favorit song. It reminds me of some Manu Chao tunes.
ReplyDeleteI really like the cover and this music too, it's actually some really good stuff, I'm a bit surprised some don't like it though, I guess this music really just fits my vibe.
ReplyDeleteThe tunes are much different than any other tune, interesting.
ReplyDeleteWow this was interesting. Bill Gates! What an awesome ending, weird title though...
ReplyDeleteAnd at that price? Anyone who pirates this is a fool.
