Album Radar: Teebs - Collections 01

Teebs' latest output on the never-disappointing Brainfeeder label is another stunning collection of tunes, chilled to serving temperature and drizzled neatly over ten tracks.

Like some of his earlier work, the samples are delicate and carefully picked, with the drums floating around them until the odd and assorted bassline comes in to redirect the groove. This record treads a very neat line between light, ethereal ambience and the crispness of hip hop flows.

The use of the harp becomes very prevalent towards the middle of the collection... an instrument that is neglected among a lot of beat makers. The end result is dreamy yet clear, not the hazy kind of reverie like Clams Casino, but a more driven and clean kind of atmosphere. It really is something special. Teebs continues to make LA proud.

The collection comes out on the 8th of November according to the press kit, although on Ninja Tune's website  they seem to think it's out on the 7th. Either way, keep your ears peeled for this one.

  11. I like the album art, I did that style of real and artificial blended. Similar to how your background is fantasy and reality melding.
